Serger

I have now updated my tab - Serger - Taming the beast with several website links that contain some great tutorials (photo and video) for using serger, various techniques and tips, how to clean serger.  I have found several tutorials for the serger Brother Lock 1034D.  Check it out.  If you know of any tutorials for this same machine leave me a comment.  I have not mastered my serger yet.  Still learning.  Time is what I need.  Maybe someday soon I will master - tame it and start sewing clothes - doll clothes with it.

  1. I have a few on my tips n techniques board. I probably got them from you though lol! The one I have on how to clean & oil my machine- I have to pull it up every time. I usually delete pins once I've "mastered" them.

  2. I too have a lot on my serger pin on pinterest (I may have gotten some from you - LOL). I like these because they are about the same serger I have. Maybe someday soon I will master it. I never delete pins off of pinterest. I would probably get more done - sewing and mastering my serger if I would stay off of pinterest. I really have learned a lot - got lots of inspirational ideas from pins.

  3. Hi,
You say you recently got a serger... what made you decide that this was a needed addition to you sewing arsenal? You obviously sew a lot. I have been sewing for just about as long as I can remember... I have an ETSY shop - shopkindercapes - and make Capes for Kids... www.kindercapes.com but also have grandchildren and seem to be sewing more and more for them. We have recently ventured into the AG world...so wondering if a serger is on my horizon but would love to hear your reasoning.
    Thanks

  4. Sallie, thank you for reading by blog and my post on serger. After researching information on serger, seeing some doll patterns suggest using serger (for knit T-shirts), wanting a more professional look I decided to purchase the serger. Still learning to use. As a matter of fact I haven't used it on sewing. I still have the multi-colored practice thread on it. I have had so many orders for doll clothes I have not had the time to sit and learn this machine. Hope this helps. Craftsy Sew (I think) has a wonderful tutorial to purchase for 29.00 but she uses another brand. It is worth the money though. Doll clothes are addicting to me. I love it - glad I found a hobby.
