New on Etsy - Backpacks for American Girl dolls

I came across this pattern on the Liberty Jane doll clothing site http://www.pixiefaire.com/collections/18-inch-doll-bag-and-purse-patterns/products/urban-backpack-18-doll-accessories and just had to get it.  I love this pattern.  I still consider myself a newbie to sewing because there is still a lot I need to learn.  I have never sewn a purse with a liner - truth was scared of doing it.  I have made 6 backpacks. The part that takes the longest is cutting out all of the fabric for outside backpack, lining, and the interface for it.  I love sew with it.  Cannot wait to sew more designs and some for boy dolls too.

I made the granddaughters backpacks too from one of their favorite characters - Hello Kitty.

These Backpacks are listed on my Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/GiGisDollCreations

'
I just love how this necklace looks on the doll too. It is child's bracelet that I purchased at target.  Reminds me of the bubble gum necklaces (very popular) that small girls (even teens and women) are wearing now.  I have seen them on facebook pages - BubbleGum Diva's. I got the chalkboard easel at Michaels for $1.00.  Just the right size for dolls.

The picture below is my favorite.  I just love black and white clothing.
I did not sew front pocket on this chevron backpack because it would have hidden the chevron.

The silver "Toms" shoes located in the above photo - I made using the fabric glitter sheets.

These would make great gifts. What are your favorite colors/designs for backpacks?
Thanks for stopping and browsing.

18 inch Doll Craft: Adding Bling to Dolls Sunglasses

I found these Springfield doll sunglasses at Michaels on Sunday when they were having their 40% off entire purchase. Below is my tutorial craft on adding Bling to Dolls Sunglasses.
I was going through some of my doll supply items and came across these iron Rhinestones for clothing.  My brain starting clicking and I decided to give the dolls sunglasses some bling.

I had purchased these iron on rhinestones awhile back on clearance at Wal-Mart for $1.00

I used some fast grab blue and glued three rhinestones to top of each side of sunglasses.

Granddaughters loved them.  Let me know what craft you are doing to add bling or flair to your dolls sunglasses.

Thanks for stopping by GiGi.

Hello Kitty Doll Clothing

Last week was my granddaughters birthday and she loves Hello Kitty.  So I made her and her sister several outfits using the design. I also made some extra to sell. I also made a shirt using Liberty Jane's Clothing - Peplum top.  I added my own twist to it by using coordinating fabric from the shorts.

While at Target last week I got the Generation doll scooter and Our Generation horse.

This is the Peplum Liberty Jane pattern I used for this top .

18 inch Boy Doll Makeover #2

I had already purchased Dana from Toy's R Us store before I purchased Lilly Anna from Target to change over to a boy.  After I got home and looked more closely I was thinking she would be difficult to change into a boy doll.  After I changed Lilly Anna to Ryan (here is the link tutorial just in case you missed it  http://gigisdollcreations.blogspot.com/2013/06/transforming-girl-doll-into-boy-doll.html

I decided not to return Dana to the store but change her to boy doll - Blake.
This is what she looked like at first - meet Dana -
Dana in the box above. Below is a close up of Dana with her glasses on.
Below is Dana undressed, small braid in hair removed. Getting ready for the transformation.  As you can see Dana has longer eyelashes.
I used magic eraser to remove pink blush on cheeks
Left side of face - all of the blush has been removed.
Here we used the burnt ? something to paint on the eyebrows.  Since the hair is darker on this one, we only used one color to thicken the eyebrows.
Here my husband in making sure the eyebrows match

Journey dolls hair is section off into wider rows of rooted hair.  She was a little bit more challenging that the Generation doll with the full thick head of hair.

Here the hair is sectioned off into three sections to cut hair

Using texturizing shears to cut hair to prevent the blunt doll hair cut (like the kind you get when the kids use regular scissors when cutting dolls hair....)

Hair has been cut and now trimming the long eyelashes.

Are You Ready To Meet Blake?

I hope I have inspired you in this blog as well as my others to try something or to do something that has been a wish or goal.  I have had several people tell me that I am "a go getter - when you decide on something you just do it". I agree I am. I never try to let fear get in my way - well except for that machine sitting to my left....the beast the Serger.  I do not know why I fear that machine.  Oh well - maybe this week I will tackle it and master it.

I made the red T-shirt and the shorts - transportation print with airplane, fire truck, cars, and trucks.

I hope you have enjoyed the transformation from Dana to Blake.
Thanks for reading.

18 inch Boy Doll - Little Slugger outfit

This morning I created an outfit for an 18 inch boy doll - Ryan is the modeling Little Slugger outfit.  He is the doll I transformed this past week from a Generation girl doll - here is the link just incase you missed it http://gigisdollcreations.blogspot.com/2013/06/transforming-girl-doll-into-boy-doll.html

I had several request to make some boy doll outfits and I went to Joann's and found some really nice red jersey knit fabric and some red and white baseball print fabric.   I made a T-shirt and a pair of shorts.  I used a doll short pattern and extended the length on them for "boy shorts".

I wanted to make a baseball hat so I went through my patterns and came across Simplicity 1928 - cap A.  I modified the pattern. I did no sew in liner and I changed location of brim to make it look more realistic.  I sewed a 2 inch strip of elastic in the back to create a snug fit.

I have this outfit listed on my Etsy store  https://www.etsy.com/listing/154800334/boy-doll-18-inch-baseball-outfit

I found the baseball at the Dollar Tree store. Perfect size and perfect fit for dolls hand.
