New on Etsy - Backpacks for American Girl dolls

I came across this pattern on the Liberty Jane doll clothing site http://www.pixiefaire.com/collections/18-inch-doll-bag-and-purse-patterns/products/urban-backpack-18-doll-accessories and just had to get it.  I love this pattern.  I still consider myself a newbie to sewing because there is still a lot I need to learn.  I have never sewn a purse with a liner - truth was scared of doing it.  I have made 6 backpacks. The part that takes the longest is cutting out all of the fabric for outside backpack, lining, and the interface for it.  I love sew with it.  Cannot wait to sew more designs and some for boy dolls too.

I made the granddaughters backpacks too from one of their favorite characters - Hello Kitty.

These Backpacks are listed on my Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/GiGisDollCreations

I just love how this necklace looks on the doll too. It is child's bracelet that I purchased at target.  Reminds me of the bubble gum necklaces (very popular) that small girls (even teens and women) are wearing now.  I have seen them on facebook pages - BubbleGum Diva's. I got the chalkboard easel at Michaels for $1.00.  Just the right size for dolls.

The picture below is my favorite.  I just love black and white clothing.
I did not sew front pocket on this chevron backpack because it would have hidden the chevron.

The silver "Toms" shoes located in the above photo - I made using the fabric glitter sheets.

These would make great gifts. What are your favorite colors/designs for backpacks?
Thanks for stopping and browsing.

Burlap Garden Flags

I have been overwhelmed with work that I have not really been doing much sewing or embroidering.  For some reason this semester of teaching nursing students seamed like the work load increased 10 fold.  Have you ever got caught up only to be slammed again with another huge load.  That is how it has been the past two months.  Now I am on summer vacation and starting to enjoy sewing and embroidering again. I have purchased several new designs.  I have been seeing some beautiful outdoor garden flags so I decided to purchase my own embroidery designs and some burlap and give a whirl.  I made some for me and my daughter and posted to my Facebook page and bam....the orders came in.

I had never worked or even cut burlap before.  If you have not either then you are in for a treat. LOL.  That stuff is messy.   I am a neat freak - cannot stand threads I cut from sewing to be on my counter. They immediately have to go in the trash.   I am just a little OCD - once again LOL. I felt like I needed a shop vac to be running continuously while I cut, sewed, and worked with the burlap to keep down the mess.  I have since learned you can pay a little more money for a higher grade of burlap that doesn't make a mess...... My question where is it?  I will pay to have it shipped here.

Enjoy the photos of my creations.  I made one with a bow accent and it was a hit.  Sold several more with bows - forgot to take pictures with the flag so I posted a picture of them.

This brown chevron came from JoAnn's Fabric store.  I had a request for brown chevron and came across this design

Black chevron with yellow chevron ribbon to accent the yellow and white dots used in the letter E
These bows went with this flag and the one below.

This design is a split design and can be altered to remove the Mr. and Mrs. and put first names.

This Split Design is very popular with monogram letter and  last name embroidered in the center
Hope you have enjoyed.  Comments always welcome - especially any tips on working and cutting burlap.

New embroidery items

This weekend I had some time to try out some new embroidery designs I had purchased.  I also purchased some beautiful bright chevron fabric and some large and small dot print fabric.  I had an order for some custom baby burp cloths so I decided to use the new fabric and these are the items I made.

I decided to make a Sensory tag blanket.  I did not have a pattern, just make my own and created this using coordinating and matching fabric.
I used cotton batting in between fabric. I used soft white flannel with pink dots to coordinate fabric.
Here is how the look together.  I love how the colors and designs match.

Hot Air Balloon Bedding

Awhile back when shopping in Nashville, TN I came across the bright and colorful hot air balloon fabric.  I only bought a yard and wish now I would have purchased more.  It was pricey so, I just purchased the one yard. When I seen the fabric I thought about Saige the 2013 American Girl doll.  I decided to make doll bedding for American Girl. I made two sets and listed on my Etsy store - https://www.etsy.com/shop/GiGisDollCreations
or https://www.etsy.com/listing/127055641/reversible-bedding-for-american-girl

I made a multi-colored chevron print pillow to accent the colors in the bedding.  Some of the balloons have chevron design on them.

I used solid dark pink fabric for the reversible side.

Thanks for stopping by - your comments and thoughts are welcome.
